After years of feeding my dogs lamb or chicken PurinaOne, decided to try "SmartBlends." So; here is some advice for the Purina nutrition "experts." Old Chinese proverb says:- "If it aint broke, don't FIX IT!!!"  All 3 of my Maltese universally turned their noses up (literally) at what they must have thought was garbage. Blended in about 25% canned food to convince them it has to be good for them, so eat it! The geniuses at Purina said so. So they carefully picked through to get at the small morsels and tossed out of their bowls the "SmartBlend" chunks of junk. So much for a "new" product.

This weekend it goes back to our supermarket.

Hey Purina geniuses! Go back to the drawing table. Your "NEW SmartBlends" sucks! My dogs say so. . . .

I have been using Purina One for many years because I trust the product.  However, with my latest purchase last week came a new formula.  My dog eats nothing but the little meat pieces and leaves the kibble on my kitchen floor.  She is a 60 pound dog (beagle/shepard mix) and I am almost positive that she can not sustain herself on just those little pieces.  I am worried about her health and welfare.

Also, I am paying for a bag of dogfood that I thow 3/4 of it away.  Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying more for a good product that is healthy and my dog likes but I don't think this is best for her.  I really do not want to change dog foods.  She is a 10 year old dog and she has been eating this food since I got her 6 years ago.    I am afraid to change foods on her because it takes a while to find something dogs like to eat and agrees with a sensitive belly.  I also know from experience that changing foods is bad for  their systems.  I guess I could always wet her food down with canned food but I would really hate to do this since this is not the way I prefer to feed my dog.  At this point, I don't know what to do.

Just a side note.  My entire family is loyal to the Purina One brand of dog food.  I told my sister about all the problems I am having with Cassie and she said she is going through the exact same problems with her two bassett mixes.

So, hopefully, you take all this into account and bring back the old formula or else I may just have to change to another food.

I am really unhappy with the new SmartBlend formula too. I switched my dogs from ProPlan when they added the Shreds because it gave my dogs diahrrea.

I decided I would give Purina One SmartBlends a try and I could just kick myself.  Again the same digestive upsets from the new formula.  I had to go out and buy a bag of Purina One Vibrant Maturity, thankfully that formula hasn't changed.  But I do have a  1 yr. old puppy that I was just transtioning from Purina One Puppy to Adult formula.

I have always fed Purina Products...and I hope they can be convinced to bring back the Original Formula...but if they don't I will have to start looking at alternative brands of dog foods

Our Saint Bernard suffered horribly from hot spots, which my vet said were due to allergies. She would give him steroids and antibiotics but every time we finished a course the hot spots came back. So two years ago, we switched to Purina One Lamb and Rice and the hot spots cleared up for good. We were very happy and so was Boomer. But a couple weeks ago, we bought a new bag of Purina One with the Smart Blend for the first time. WIthin a couple days, he started getting hot spots and our dog is licking furiously. I have to think it's something that was added to the food because nothing is different in Boomer's diet or lifestyle except the Smart Blend. Please tell me what was added so we can switch to a different formula. Is it corn?
